Borini back at the Kenny

STAR Parma playmaker Fabio Borini revealed it wasn’t his first trip to Kenilworth Road after pulling the strings in the Italian side’s 2-0 friendly victory on Tuesday night, writes Mark Wood.

The former Chelsea and Swansea City man was in scorching form and at the heart of all of Parma’s best moves. He said: “The pitch was really good to play on tonight. It was a hard ground but lovely grass. I’ve been here once to watch a game at U17 national level, Italy versus England.

“When I came on the pitch and saw the stands and recognised the stadium it’s nice for the league at which Luton play.”

Borini, 20, was also impressed with what he saw from the Hatters on the night. He continued: “I was surprised because I think they played good football with clear ideas about what they are doing.

“I think they are a bit further in their preparation for the league because it’s two weeks earlier than us.

“It was a good test and they started at a high tempo and got into some creative positions and we almost conceded a goal, but we came up with one and it changed the game.”

He also enjoyed playing alongside renowned Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo for the first time and feels he is settling in well with the Duchy Men following his move from Chelsea.

Borini added: “I fully enjoyed playing with Crespo for the first time since I joined Parma.

“It’s good to play with him because of his experience. It’s easy to find him because he is clever enough and we talk to each other on the pitch and it makes it easier. I felt really well physically and tactically. I’m starting to get the physiognomy of the 4-4-2 we play.

“I thought we created some good chances first half and second half as well. I thought I did well and the manager said so to me.”
