Brabin rules out moves for strike duo

Town boss Gary Brabin has confirmed that neither strikers Nathan Elder or Matt Paterson, who have both been on trial at Kenilworth Road recently, will be offered anything permanent with the club, writes Mike Simmonds.

Elder, who has played for Brighton, Brentford and Shrewsbury, scored in the 3-2 defeat to Gabala and played 90 minutes against Arlesey Town on Tuesday night, but hasn’t done enough to impress Brabin.

The manager said: “Nathan will not be offered a contact and will be no longer at the club.”

Meanwhile, Southend frontman Paterson featured at Corby Town on Saturday, but Brabin added: “Matt was a name who was on the tip of our tongue and has got a good pedigree.

“He’s still at Southend though and we’re not going to put a bid in for him. We know where he is and what type he is, but we’re looking for something a little bit different.”
