The success of Town boss John Still at Dagenham & Redbridge has been the catalyst for the immediate success by teams promoted into the Football League according to new signing Anthony Charles, writes Mark Wood.

Still won two promotions with the Daggers as he guided their rise from the Conference to League One and Charles believes that has inspired all other non-league teams.

He said: “I’ve known him from when I was playing in the Conference years back.

“What he achieved at Dagenham, he gave the lift to other clubs in the Conference to get promotion.

“Crawley and Stevenage have both done that and I think he put the wheels in motion by what he achieved.”

After putting pen to paper on a one year deal at Kenilworth Road, Charles is targeting a potentially unique hat-trick of promotions from the Conference too.
