Striker Mark Cullen has only one thing on his mind next season, promotion, writes Mike Simmonds.

The forward penned a two-year deal at Kenilworth Road after being released by Premier League-bound Hull City and said: “That’s why I’ve signed, I want to get promoted, there’s no two ways about it, I hope this time next season we’re celebrating promotion.”

This will be the first time Cullen has dropped out of the Football League on a permanent basis after spending over three years with Hull City, although he did play for Stockport last season.

There he played three times in the Premier League, scoring in the 2-2 draw at Wigan and starting against Liverpool.

When asked if he had been worried about moving into the Conference, he continued: “Not really, the club want to get back into Football League pretty soon, so hopefully I’ll not be playing in the Conference very long.”
