Ex-Town star Howard leaves Hartlepool

Former Town favourite Steve Howard has left League Two Hartlepool by mutual consent.

Howard, 37 managed just three goals in 45 games after returning to Pools in 2012, but is a firm favourite at Kenilworth Road where he scored 103 times in 228 games before being sold to Derby for £1million in 2006.

He said: “Everything has been amicable.

“I wish all the players and staff well for the rest of the season, I really hope they can go on and have a successful campaign.”

Howard hasn’t featured for the Pool since getting sent off in September against Oxford United.
