FA Cup dreams are ended for Brabin
Despite conceding in the opening two minutes, Town were on level terms early in the second half thanks to Aaron O’Connor’s double strike.
Brabin said: “First and foremost I’m disappointed, I thought we could have won today. We all dream of getting in the hat for the next round and it was a hard one to take.
“I thought we played some good football and were worthy of the win, but speaking to people, Cheltenham are on a little bit of a roll at the moment and when you’ve got that belief in football games, things fall for you.
“They’ve only had five or six chances at our goal and they’ve put away four. So performance wise I was delighted with the performance, I thought we played some really good football.
“We played on the front foot which is what I wanted us to do, we always looked like we were going to score goals, which was a plus.
“But certainly, the first three goals could have been avoided, which was disappointing.”
For the visitors, it was their eighth successive away win and boss Mark Yates added: “It was a great game. We weren’t as good as we have been and I think that’s credit to them.
“We know we’ve been in a real game against a really decent side. On chances I think we deserved to get through but they gave us one hell of a scare.
“Scoring the early goal made us a bit lax and not as sharp as we could have been. They (the players) really wanted to win today and I’m just delighted to be in the next round.”
