Town defender Scott Griffiths declared himself satisfied with Town’s second half performance as they defeated basement side Hyde 4-1 at the weekend.

Luton had gone into the break on level terms with the Skrill Premier strugglers, but a quickfire double from Luke Guttridge and Andre Gray killed off their opponents, before Gray bagged another late on.

Griffiths said: “I’m very pleased with the result and fairly pleased with the performance.

“We got better in the second half, we pushed on harder. We may not have been quite as on the ball first half as we were in the second.

“I don’t know what that was down to, perhaps in a way, possibly nerves because it’s always going to be tough with a team that have nothing to lose.

“They’re going to come here and are going to give everything. They’re not a bad team at all, they’re a very good team actually, but we ended up dealing with it well.”

Hyde had come into the game with an appalling record of just two points from their opening 14 games, while they had lost 10 in a row and hadn’t scored in over 11 hours of football.

Despite that, Griffiths didn’t take anything for granted, even after Andre Gray’s early opener as he said: “You can never think that.

“I don’t ever believe you think one goal and that’s it. Mistakes happen, Macca (Steve McNulty) unfortunately showed that mistakes can happen, so you’ve got to be prepared to push on all the time.

“Personally I never going into games expecting good or bad. I just take the next game as it comes and take every team and every player as being extremely good and competitive to go up against so that I don’t lower my game.

“I try to stay on top of my game as much as I can.”
