Hand stands out during his new defensive role

WILLING Jamie Hand admitted it was the first time he had ever played at centre-half after putting in an assured performance deputising at the back on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.

Dean Beckwith’s sending off on 23 minutes meant that manager Gary Brabin called on the on-loan Hayes & Yeading man to step into the breach and he didn’t disappoint with a disciplined performance as 10-man Town shut Lincoln City out at Kenilworth Road.

Hand said: “I’ve never played there before, but I will play anywhere. I’m a holding midfielder really.
