Full-back Scott Griffiths doesn’t see his move to Kenilworth Road as being a step backwards despite dropping down into the Conference from Championship side Peterborough United, writes Mark Wood.

The 27-year-old has signed on at Kenilworth Road until the end of the season after leaving the Posh at the start of the year and made his debut as a 39th-minute sub in Monday’s 2-1 home defeat to Kidderminster Harriers.

Griffiths said: “I don’t see there’s any point being anywhere unless they’ve got ambition to do things.

“Technically it is going back, but I don’t want to see it as going back.

“I wouldn’t be here if it was going back. They’ve got ambition for promotion and that’s the most important thing for me.”

On what sort of player he is too, Griffiths added: “It can vary, I love to attack. I think I would have changed my position (when I was younger) to be an attacking midfielder or striker because I love to attack.

“When it comes to it I’m good in a scrap and if you have the right players around you I like to get the ball down and play.

“I’ve always enjoyed being someone who was allowed to overlap and if I was allowed, I would always be up for corners.”

Meanwhile, fellow recent signing Solomon Taiwo, who was with Griffiths at Dagenham & Redbridge, said on the new addition: “Scott’s dynamic, he knows the system and is willing to learn.

“Scotty will do what the gaffer wants to do, and if you do what the gaffer wants you to do, it’s not hard, and if you do it well enough, you’ll get promoted. That’s how simple it is.”
