Jonathan Smith: 6 - Stand-in right-back had one of his best games in that position, but it still doesn’t come naturally to him.

Steve McNulty: 7 - Overturning his red card at the weekend was key to Town’s success as he’s becoming the cornerstone of the back four.

Anthony Charles: 6.5 - Experienced head added quiet composure, but was injured late on, taken to hospital, and could have to go under the knife.

Solomon Taiwo: 6 - Started slowly, but showed flashes of what he is capable of, and calmly fired home the crucial penalty that set Town on their way.

Jon Shaw: 6.5 - Target man played through the pain barrier as he gave Town’s attacks real focus and was unlucky not to score.

Scott Griffiths: 6 - Composed showing from the full-back who helps to give Town’s defence real balance on the left.

Mark Cullen: 6 - Neat and tidy and went desperately close to opening the scoring, but lacked the cutting edge brought by Gray.

David Martin: 6 - Quick and direct, but sometimes overruns the ball and needs more quality on his final ball.

Luke Guttridge: 7 - Tenacious midfielder put in a tigerish performance in the middle, produced some superb passes and netted the killer second goal.

Shaun Whalley: 6 - A joy to watch, but too often one trick too many as he failed to deliver the killer ball.

Andre Gray (sub): 7 - Supersub turned the game on its head by instantly winning a penalty and running City’s defence ragged.

Alex Lacey (sub): 6 - Young defender is learning all the time and competently filled in after Charles’ injury.

Jake Howells (sub): 6 - Lost his place in the starting XI, but busied himself during his late cameo.
