Modest Davis plays down vital interventions in Lincoln draw
Promising on-loan Port Vale defender Joe Davis made a number of vital interventions as he helped Town to their sixth clean sheet of his stay as they were held to a goalless draw at Lincoln City on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.
On a heavy, energy-sapping pitch the 20-year-old Valiant excelled, but modestly conceded: “I’m just doing my job. As a defender the team relies on you to win them battles and me and Macca (Steve McNulty) did that quite well today.
“Macca’s good at that, I try and get round him a little bit because he is good at going in and winning the first ball, I try and win the second.”
