Rendell loan could open door for a long-term deal admits Still

Hatters boss John Still is still weighing up whether or not to make a move in the loan market, writes Mark Wood and Mike Simmonds.

The boss is reticent about taking on anyone purely temporarily unless in an emergency, but is open to bringing someone in with a view to a permanent deal.

Still had hinted he would have looked to bring someone else in if a deal for Scott Rendell hadn’t collapsed at the 11th-hour on transfer deadline day.

With the striker having joined Skrill Premier rivals Woking on loan last week, in addition to defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner moving to Alfreton Town on loan, there appears to be wiggle room in the Hatters’ budget.

Speaking after the 3-0 win over Dartford, Still said: “If I can do something that allows me to keep someone permanent then I’ll do it.

“It’s not quite working at the moment, so we’ll keep on working with it.”
