Trialists’ fitness is key to the decision

FITNESS will be a key factor in Gary Brabin’s decision to sign any trialists, writes Mark Wood.

Despite enjoying a moderately successful trial, former £1million striker Leon McKenzie has been told he has no future at Kenilworth Road.

He tweeted on Monday: “Evening all, just for the Luton fans following me. Had a call today from the gaffer and I didn’t fit the missing link for his team. I wish the lads, fans and staff all the best for the season, great club hope they do it.”

Target man Nathan Elder is still on trial and is looking to regain his fitness.

The experienced 6ft 2ins target man scored with a powerful late header in Luton’s 3-2 home defeat to Gabala on Wednesday night.

After the game, Town boss Gary Brabin revealed that the former Shrewsbury Town man has struggled with injuries in recent years, but believes he might have something to offer.
