Knockout competition for digital images

Leighton Buzzard Photographic Club held a Digital Image Knockout Competition on Wednesday October 28.

Our occasional Knockout Competitions for projected digital images are entirely informal, light-hearted affairs.

All images are anonymous   They are randomly selected by software to be displayed in pairs.  One of each pair is then chosen by a show of hands of the assembled club members to go through to the next round.  And so on, like a tennis tournament, through successive rounds.

Members entered over 60 images covering a wide range of photographic genres, subjects and approaches.  These encompassed landscapes, seascapes and old boats, townscapes, abstracts, architecture, street/candid, travel, wild and domestic animals, birds, historical/re-enactment, still life, colour, monochrome, and so much more.

Eventually, the final produced a close conjugal contest between “Amongst the Colours” by John Curd and “Spirals” by Carol Curd.

And, by a narrow margin, the winning image was John’s vivid “Amongst the Colours” taken at Tate St Ives!  Congratulations to John on his splendid victory.  Sadly, though, there is no actual prize for winning this fun competition.
