As part of her personal bucket list ahead of a milestone birthday, Cathy chose to quite literally take to the sky for an adrenaline-fuelled challenge. Cathy dedicated the skydive to her mother, who is living with dementia, a journey that has given Cathy a deeply personal understanding of the condition and its impact on families.

Through both her personal experience and professional role, Cathy has seen first-hand the importance of specialist support and compassionate care. At Wing View Care Centre, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), residents and families are supported throughout their dementia journey, including access to Admiral Nurses who provide expert guidance and reassurance. In her role, Cathy works closely with families, helping to guide and support them through the often emotional process of finding the right care for their loved ones.

Cathy is particularly passionate about the work of Dementia UK, whose Admiral Nurses offer vital support to families across the country. To give back, she used this moment to raise funds to support their continued work, helping more people access the specialist care and advice they need.

Cathy said: "I want to thank all who donated to Dementia UK. It was truly the most adrenaline fuelled experience ever.”

The skydive attracted strong support from colleagues, residents, families, and the wider community, all rallying behind the cause and helping to push the fundraising total beyond the original target.

The funds raised will go towards Dementia UK, which provides specialist advice, guidance, and emotional support to families affected by dementia across the UK.
