It's a story that has delighted adults and children alike '“ and families can enjoy it in the surrounds of Wrest Park later this month.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is presenting The Railway Children, the heart-warming story of adventure and family set in the Yorkshire countryside, on Thursday June 16 at 7.30pm.

The stage production of E Nesbit’s classic story features period costume, traditional music and songs and a whole host of unforgettable characters.

Laura Turner, who has written the adaptation, said: “The Railway Children has been a delight to adapt, filled with so many memorable moments of courage, heroism, love and friendship.

“It’s a beautiful story of the strength we all have inside ourselves, set amidst the green and fertile countryside of the rolling Yorkshire hills, reminding us that a little bit of faith, love and trust is sometimes all you need.”

Director Bryony Tebbutt said: “I have always loved this story. It’s a classic heart-warming tale of love and trust, and never giving up hope, and I hope this year’s production will prove to be a fun, fast-paced piece of family entertainment.”

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is now in its 17th year of touring open-air theatre at some of the most beautiful country houses, castles and heritage sites across the UK and Ireland.
