Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a man in distress just before 5pm on Sunday, November 1.

A spokeswoman said: “Crews from Leighton Buzzard and Harrold attended and rescued a 40-year-old man stuck in mud in Liscombe Park. Crews used a drone to help locate the man, who was waist deep in mud.

“Using a water rescue throw line, short extension ladder and wading poles, crews rescued the man safely.

"The fire service provided first aid to the man, believed to have been suffering from hypothermia.”

The man had called a family member, who then dialled 999 to explain his location.
