Pensioner killed in ‘hit and run’ crash named

A pensioner who died after an alleged hit and run crash in Bicester Road, Aylesbury has been named.

Valerie Barnes, 65, was killed when her Peugeot 206 collided with a BMW on Thursday, February 20.

The pensioner from Pitstone, together with her 34-year-old passenger were cut free from the vehicle by fire crews.

Both were transported to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, but Ms Barnes died from multiple injuries on Sunday, February 23.

The driver of the BMW is accused of fleeing the scene, leaving the seriously injured women trapped in their vehicle.

He was arrested on the night of the crash at an address in Aylesbury and held in custody. He has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.
