Wannabe builders given chance to take up apprenticeship with housebuilder in Leighton Buzzard
Students who fancy a career in construction are being given the chance to take up an apprenticeship with housebuilder Redrow South Midlands.
The company’s apprenticeship scheme gives selected candidates the opportunity to work on developments across the region, including Leestone Chase in Leighton Buzzard.

During their apprenticeship, students can develop their vocational skills and focus on different aspects of housebuilding, including bricklaying and carpentry.
The company has welcomed 71 apprentices since 2019 including Kelvin Lima, aged 21, who is completing a carpentry apprenticeship at Pilgrims Chase in the village of Harlington near Dunstable.
Kelvin said: “I applied because I loved the idea of working in a hands-on role in which I can see the results of my work at the end of the day - something that someone will live in for years to come.”
His daily tasks include fixing snags, installing ironmongery, putting up signs or building storage.
Kelvin added: “The apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to learn a skilled trade.
“At first, it might take time to adjust to site work because it’s so different, but you soon get used to it.
“By the end, you’ll have great on-site experience and a clear path for progression if you are willing to work hard and stay committed.”
Head of sales at Redrow South Midlands Andrew Newman added: “As part of our dedication to developing and inspiring the next generation of housebuilders, we’re proud to offer apprenticeship opportunities for school leavers who aspire to build a career in construction.
“Our aim is to give motivated learners the chance to expand their industry knowledge and gain practical, hands-on experience, equipping them with the tools and support they need to succeed in their chosen field.”
As well as Leestone Chase, apprentices will also have the opportunity to work on Redrow South Midlands developments further afield including Pilgrims Chase in Harlington, The Maltings in Haddenham and Woburn View in Milton Keynes.
