It's birthday time for Bucks Beavers
Squirrels (boys and girls aged 4 to 6), Beavers (boys and girls aged 6 to 8) and Cubs (boys and girls aged 8 to 10) from across Buckinghamshire celebrated their birthdays with a trip to Gulliver’s Land. Squirrels celebrated their 5th, Beavers their 40th and Cubs their 110th birthday.

Over 360 children had a one-night sleepover, with another 80 children coming along for a day. The children on the sleepovers had some exclusive time in the JCB sector of Gulliver’s Land, which included going on the dodgems and the drop tower.
The children on the sleepovers enjoyed an evening meal, followed by a walk around the Land of Lights, toasting marshmallows and an outdoor disco. This was followed by a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast before spending lots of time on the wide range of activities.

Poppy said, “I had a great time. I went on lots of rides and spent time with my friends. My favourite rides were the log flume and run-away train.” Leo said, “I enjoy going to Beavers as we do lots of different activities. We play games, do science experiments, learn about the environment and earn badges. My favourite badges are Air activities, Exploring and Time on the Water.”
Adult volunteer Jemma said: “I got involved when my daughter wanted to join. It’s wonderful to see the children have fun whilst they are learning about things such as the environment, seeing them engage with others and make new friends. It’s also good to see them try new activities. For me, as a volunteer, I’ve got to know other parents/carers and tried new activities.”
Parent Manish said: “Scouting is such a wonderful organisation. It’s inclusive and enabling and gives children and young people opportunities to try new activities. Those who volunteer are absolute stars.”
