The Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade has announced that, despite the great strides being made with the vaccination programme, the scheduled date of May 3 will come too soon to allow the fayre to go ahead.

A statement read: "It is with great sadness that the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade must again postpone the fantastic May Fayre.

"Rotary have spent a significant time weighing up all the options and waiting until the Prime Minister was able to unveil the Government's Roadmap out of the pandemic restrictions.

"It is now clear that despite the significant impact of the vaccine programme, this year's May Fayre would come just too soon, so rather than dilute the event or deliver a inferior product the club has with a heavy heart decided to wait till 2022 to bring this special part of the town's calendar back, for the enjoyment of the whole community."

Rotary President Simon Marshall added: “ We have taken the decision to postpone May Fayre for a further year with a very heavy heart but we are determined to bring the event back in 2022 and have earmarked some resources to enable this to happen.

"In the meantime we are looking at what might be delivered this year and in particular how, together with our wonderful community, we can perhaps have a positive impact on the environment so please watch out for announcements on this over the next few weeks.”
