Tell us about the first record you bought

It was Sheila B Devotion’s Spacer, because I fancied her in that silver catsuit. Yes please!

An album you can’t live without, and why

I don’t have one particular album that is above the others. I think there are so many incredible artists that have made amazing music through the years. It’s way too difficult to choose

The most embarrassing record in your collection?

The Birdy Song, the less said the better

Your favourite cheesy disc?

The Village People’s YMCA. I would probably say more camp with a hint of cheese, especially performing it on tour in Boogie Nights. Amazing!

An album you wish you’d bought, but didn’t?

Maroon 5, Overexposed. An amazing pop album

If we could grant you a wish to meet one musician or band, who would it be?

If you could grant an audience with Donny Hathaway my dreams would come true

What question would you ask him?

I would be fascinated to know how he dealt with his mental condition at the height of his musical creativity, which ultimately led to his death

Back in the day it was Groove Records, W1, London - it always had the latest vinyl and DJ cuts

I would love to step into the shoes of Stevie Wonder for 24 hours at the time he wrote As - the greatest love song a man can write to his loved one

Is there a new or undiscovered artist you think we need to hear. Spill the beans.

Yes, and she won’t forgive me for it, but my daughter Tara, she has the potential to sing and write great songs
