Lego gets Fast and Furious with Dom Torreto’s Dodge Charger

Lego has unveiled its latest car-based set designed to appeal to petrolheads, brickheads and movie fans alike with a replica of one of the most famous cars from the Fast and Furious franchise.

The Lego Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger set is a 1,077-piece kit recreating the iconic black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T that Vin Diesel first drove in the original The Fast and the Furious film and has cropped up in three subsequent movies.

The 1:13 scale model features many of the movie car’s stand-out features, including a V8 engine with moving pistons, a huge supercharger intake poking through the bonnet and a wheelie bar. There are also mini nitrous tanks in the boot and a replica fire extinguisher stored in the cockpit.

The kit was due to launch at the same time as the latest instalment of the film franchise - F9 - but with the film’s release put back until April 2021, the Lego set is hitting the streets first.

Its creators suggest that once fans have finished building the model they might want to recreate some of the car’s most famous scenes and once you’re done smashing it off the skirting boards and jumping it over the cat, a special display stand means you can put it on show in its famous wheelie position.

The kit’s designer Samuel Tacchi said: "The high-octane action of the Fast and Furious franchise has captured the hearts and imaginations of petrol-heads the world over.

“We want to inspire people of all ages to explore their creativity through building whatever their passion is, and we know fans of Lego Technic and the blockbuster franchise love cool cars and adrenaline-fuelled fun. Brought together by that same passion, we worked really closely with the Universal team to bring Dom’s Dodge Charger to life in the most minute detail to inspire Fast & Furious fans and Lego Technic builders around the world.”

If you live your life a half mile at a time and fancy something to keep you occupied while you’re stuck at home then the Lego Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger set is available to pre-order now and goes on general sale on April 27, priced £89.99
