Leese says sorry ti fans as Leighton Town are 'humiliated'

Leighton Town boss Andy Lees apologised to the club’s supporters after his team were ‘humiliated’ in a 5-1 home drubbing at the hands of Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday.

Leighton remain second from bottom in the Pitching-In Southern League Premier Central, after Jake Jervis scored four for the visitors.

But Leese was more concerned about his side’s failings, and told @LeightonTownFC: It was very disappointing, and we got humiliated really.

"In the first half we pretty much held our own. There was a mistake for the goal and then a great finish for the second one, and didn't think we were out of the game.

"But then the first 25 minutes of the second half was the worst I have seen us play.

"We set ourselves back the whole three weeks we have been here.

“Out of possession we were absolutely woeful, and we got a lesson from a very good side.

"After the third goal, our body language changes, our demeanour changes.

"We have our heads down, and then the fourth goal is probably the most embarrassing we will concede all season.

"What was asked of the players at half-time didn't materialise, and at 4-0 we didn't respond, we had our chins on the floor and it took a while to get going again.

"It is back to the drawing board, there is a huge amount to do, and I want to make that point and apologise to the paying supporters."

Leighton are back at home on Saturday when they host Hitchin.
