Group has cunning plan to stage classic British sitcom

One of the most beloved British sitcoms has been adapted for the stage by Leighton Buzzard Drama Group.

Three episodes of Blackadder II have been adapted for the stage by the group for a run which starts on Thursday June 16.

The show which was written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, sees the episodes Bells, Head and Beer on the stage.

In Bells Edmund Blackadder finds himself attracted to his new servant, Bob, who is really a girl named Kate.

In Head he is made Lord High Executioner, but this brings him into conflict with the Queen.

Beer sees Blackadder’s attempts to impress his fanatically puritanical aunt and uncle, while simultaneously attempting to win a drinking contest.

The director of this incarnation has previous experience of putting sitcoms on the stage.

Colin Aldous, who directed Allo Allo two years ago, is at the helm.

A spokesman for the group said: “Colin has been very pleased with the way things have turned out during rehearsals with his cast.

“Everyone will be blown away with what will be put on. It will be an extrememly fun night out for fans of the original show and even for new comers.

“Make sure you book your tickets now to avoid disapointment on the night.”

The group are just finishing rehearsals for the show ahead of the show to be performed from 8pm each night on Thursday June 16 to SaturdayJune 18.

Tickets for the show are £12 for adults and £10 for concessions.

There is a special offer of four tickets for the proce of three on the opening night.
