This year’s Carers Week runs from Monday 8 June until Sunday 14 June 2020.
The event is organised by Carers UK, which is joining forces with Age UK, Carers Trust, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Oxfam GB and Rethink Mental Illness, this year, plus organisations and individuals across the UK.
What is this year’s theme?
This year’s theme is ‘Making Caring Visible’, which hopes to help people recognise the contribution that carers make.
Carersweek.org explains that there are 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers, but they often feel isolated and are seven times more likely to say they are lonely than the general population.

This could include an employer setting up an online carers' network, a GP practice offering an annual health check or alternative appointment times for carers.
A business could offer special deals or priority access for carers or you could reach out to your family, friends or neighbours, if you know they are caring for someone, to let them know that you are there for them.
You can also join others who have added their ‘voices’ to help Make Caring Visible, and help to support unpaid carers who deserve more recognition and better support, explains Carers UK.

Carers UK are hosting a variety of events throughout the week, so there’s plenty to get involved with.
There’s a daily Care for a Cuppas, where they’ll be fixing a hot drink and taking some time to come together with carers for a virtual chat, sharing how they’re doing and being there for one another.
However, places are limited so check on the website for more details on how to join.
They’ll also be publishing blogs from a range of guests throughout the week, and author Penny Wincer will be sharing videos of her experiences of caring.
