Local singer takes a lead pantomime role

Get ready to boo and hiss the bad guys and cheer on the good guys for the final time of the winter season as a village's drama group gets ready to put on a pantomime.

The St Leonard’s Amateur Players (SLAP) based in Heath and Reach is presenting the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty packed full of pantomime elements designed for the whole family.

The show features the well known local singer Niki Waldock as the wicked fairy godmother Carabosse.

The villain of the piece tries to gain revenge for being left out of the celebrations of the birth of Princess Aurora.

Carabosse gets Aurora to prick her finger on a poisoned spinning wheel but whose spell is turned instead into a sleep of a 100 years.

But not all hope is lost and Princess Aurora is awoken when she is kissed by a handsome prince.

The script by Ben Crocker includes a hilarious slapstick scene, a pack of scary zombies and the usual gags and songs to bring you a great show for all the family.

Sleeping Beauty will be staged by SLAP on Saturday, January 30, and Saturday, February 6.

There will be two performances on each day, one starting at 2pm and an evening performance at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £7 for adults, £4.50 for children.
