Sleeping Beauty ballet screened in Leighton Buzzard

The Royal Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty is to be shown at the venue on Tuesday February 28.

The story follows the same as the classic fairytale all about a couple welcoming a new baby into their lives but a evil fairy decides to put a curse on the child that will see her prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep.

This production has come deep from the company’s repertory and was the first show when the Royal Opera House reopened after the war in February 1946.

It was when the Company first took up residence in Covent Garden with Margot Fonteyn dancing the role of Princess Aurora.

This 70th anniversary revival features a number of debuts.

It is regarded as the Company’s signature work and after numerous different productions, The Royal Ballet has returned to the inspiration of the original with Oliver Messel’s magical, luminous designs.

There will also be the sweeping score by Tchaikovsky to complete one of the most enduring ballet classics.
