Toddbury Farm murder trial date lined up

A man charged with murder over the death of a dad-of-three near Leighton Buzzard will not have his trial heard until next year.

Thomas McCarthy, 24, of Toddbury Farm, Slapton Road, Little Billington, appeared before Luton Crown Court on Tuesday via a video link from Bedford Prison.

A provisional January 13 trial date was set in relation to the death of 43-year-old Patrick Maloney on Tuesday, August 2 at Toddbury Farm.

His next appearance in court is set for October 25, when he is due to enter a plea. A post-mortem examination carried out on Mr Maloney, who also lived at Toddbury Farm has revealed he died as a result of multiple crushing injuries – consistent with a heavy collision with a vehicle.

A 42-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder is currently on bail and is due to return to court on September 14.
