Flipping super fun at pancake races
The sky was blue and the sun shone as the competitors lined up to enjoy the occasion and raise money for the NSPCC and the Woodcraft Folk.
Barbara Broadley, president of Heath & Reach WI, who organised the event, said: “Following an invitation from St Leonards VA School, this year, the races took place on the school playing field so the WI members were denied their annual duties of mole hill flattening and the removal of dog waste from the village recreation ground.

“It promotes activities in the outdoors and encourages friendship and tolerance towards children internationally. The charity has been established locally for eight years and events such as ours are a great opportunity to encourage the making of new friends.”
The following teams and children were the winners of the various races held. The requirements for the runners in the adult races and the children in Class 4 were that their pancakes should be tossed at two marked points on the course.
