30 jobs at risk as Leighton Buzzard factory announces possible closure
Up to 30 jobs are at risk following confirmation that a Leighton Buzzard business is proposing to relocate to a new site.
Holcim UK (formerly Aggregate Industries) is a concrete production factory on Grovebury Road that could be moving out of town with possible redundancies. A consultation period has already been started.

The Observer was told workers at the site could be made redundant by December 2027 after the sale of the land to a business developer.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed proposals looking at re-structuring the business at a site which could replace the current Grovebury Road premises.
He said: “We are proposing to restructure part of our Concrete Products business in order to provide greater efficiency and growth.
“This would involve creating a new super site at a current Holcim location, which would produce blocks and an extended range of landscaping products for the commercial and domestic markets.
“The new site could replace the existing Grovebury Road factory in Leighton Buzzard. If this is the case, production would be gradually reduced through 2026 before closure by the end of 2027.
“A total of 30 colleagues at the site are at risk and a consultation period has been opened.”
Holcim Building Products has over 200 sites across the UK supplying everything from aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete, cement and precast concrete products. It also also produces, imports and supplies construction materials, export aggregates and carries out national road surfacing and contracting solutions.
