Community spirit helps Bedfordshire firefighters raise £10k for charity
More than £10,000 has been raised by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service for its Fire Fighters Charity from events including fire station open days and car washes.
And the service credits the generosity and community spirit of people across Bedfordshire who have once again shown support for their local fire and rescue teams.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides vital mental, physical and social support services for serving and retired fire and rescue personnel, as well as their families. From rehabilitation and recovery programs to tailored mental health support, the charity ensures that the heroes who protect our communities are cared for in their time of need.
Head of Response, Stuart Auger, praised the incredible support shown across the county: “The response from our local communities this year has been truly inspiring. To see people turn out in such numbers for our events, and raise such an amazing amount, shows the strength of the bond between our fire service and the public we serve. These funds will make a real difference, helping to provide continued support for our staff and their families when they need it most.”

Over the summer months, crews welcomed visitors to enjoy fire safety demonstrations, equipment displays and family-friendly activities, while also rolling up their sleeves during car washes. Every penny raised will go directly towards helping firefighters and their families recover, rebuild and thrive.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated and supported our fundraising events — together, we really are making a difference.
