Operation Sceptre was a national week of action earlier this month that focused on looking at the causes of knife crime and violence.

The Leighton Buzzard Community Policing Team reported that other action as part of Operation Sceptre included weapon sweeps carried out in areas highlighted by the community and test purchase operations to ensure that retailers were acting responsibly.

In a post on Facebook police said: “Every weapon removed is a potential life saved, and these proactive efforts help reduce harm and keep our streets safer for everyone.

“We continue to work closely with partners and the community to educate, prevent and enforce.

“We know that tackling knife crime isn’t just about enforcement - it’s about prevention, education, and building trust within our communities.

“Your support, conversations, and willingness to speak up all make a real difference.

“If you have concerns or information, please report it to us or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
