More than 250 jobs created across Central Bedfordshire through investment of £6 million of Government funding
More than 250 jobs have been created across Central Bedfordshire through investments of more than £6 million of Government funding.
The money, which has come from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Rural England Prosperity Fund programme was invested between March 2023 and April 2026.

According to Central Bedfordshire Council it has delivered an economic impact of £56.5 million, with the authority saying this equates to a Return on Investment of £9.22 for every pound invested.
The business programme was developed in partnership with WENTA, Chamber of Commerce, Cranfield University and the University of Bedfordshire, and has helped to create 273 jobs.
In a statement Central Bedfordshire Council said: “Every pound of Government funding was fully invested, reflecting a firm commitment to Central Bedfordshire, its businesses and communities.
“While the programme has come to an end, its legacy will continue to deliver benefits for years to come.
“Many funded projects will continue to grow, with lasting benefits for residents, businesses, and communities.
“The partnerships built and insights gained will now help shape future investment and opportunities across the area.”
In total, 273 jobs have been created, and among the local businesses to benefit from the funding was Encore Football.
Owner Mark Longman said: “Taking the leap of faith to start a business venture can be difficult, and working with WENTA gave me the comfort of knowing that if I was going to take that leap, I was doing it in the right way.
“They provided me with the tools and support to give me the best chance of success.
“They helped with things like getting the business registered, setting up a website and opening a bank account.
“Their level of expertise, their hands-on approach and their willingness to go the extra mile, meant I felt like I had a bit of a cheerleader in my corner as well.”
Chair of the Partnership Board at Central Bedfordshire Council Tracey Wye added: “The return on investment speaks for itself, but just as important are the partnerships, learning and lasting benefits it has created.
"I want to thank all the teams, delivery partners and stakeholders who worked so hard over the last three years in delivering an outstanding programme and leaving a legacy for our communities.”
