New Children and Young People’s Plan published by Central Bedfordshire Council
Central Bedfordshire Council has published a new Children and Young People’s Plan for the area.
The document sets out how the authority will deliver services to support children and young people across the Central Bedfordshire region, and has been developed through engagement with schools, youth groups and community organisations.
It is built around seven key themes, chosen by children and young people themselves in relation to the areas that matter most to them.
The themes are:
> We make good choices to help our minds and bodies stay healthy
> We feel safe and have fun things to do
> We get to learn exciting and interesting things
> We are cared about, and people listen to what we say
> We are prepared for our future
> We can get support from people who understand our families
> We are looking after our planet
The plan builds on a previous edition that was published in 2022, and also outlines how the council will deliver this support.
Executive member for children’s services at Central Bedfordshire Council Gareth Mackey said: “Children and young people across Central Bedfordshire told us what matters most to them, and their voices have played a vital role in shaping this plan and will continue to guide the work we do.
“We will continue to champion the voice of the child as we take this work forward.
“By working with our partners and continuing to listen to young people’s views, we can focus on providing the right support at the right time, so that children, young people and families across Central Bedfordshire can lead happy, healthy and successful lives.”
