Shoplifters nabbed in town centre with stolen goods worth £114
Two people were detained by Police for shoplifting goods worth £114.50 in Leighton Buzzard High Street, yesterday (December 4).
Half an hour later a wanted man was spotted on CCTV, arrested and taken into custody.
Leighton Buzzard Community Policing team said the arrest came as officers were patrolling the High Street and surrounding areas, as part of the force’s Winter Policing Plan.
They said: “Within five minutes of leaving the station two individuals were detained for shoplifting in the High Street, with stolen goods totalling to £114.50. 30 minutes later a wanted male was spotted on CCTV cameras, arrested and sent to custody.”
The team added added that the patrols were part of an action plan continuing throughout winter where the community team will be working with Central Beds Council to tackle crime and ASB (anti-social behaviour).
