Car abandoned on Leighton Buzzard's Vimy Road will be removed on Monday
An abandoned car that has blighted Leighton Buzzard's Vimy Road community will finally be removed on Monday (August 24).
The battered red Renault was dumped over six weeks ago, with claims it is deterring children from using the nearby play park.

The damaged vehicle and smashed glass are also said to be upsetting residents, shoppers, and people trying to enjoy a walk by the canal and river.
Bedfordshire Police told the LBO that the car is a matter for Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) – with CBC confirming that "the vehicle has now been formally classified as abandoned" and will be removed on Monday.

CBC told the LBO that the car had been investigated and formally classified as abandoned.
A spokeswoman said: "Under the legislation governing abandoned vehicles, the council must assess each vehicle and follow the required process before it can be removed.
"The vehicle was first reported on July 20 and, following an initial assessment, was monitored as it was not considered abandoned at that stage.
"Further reports were received on July 28 and August 3 – and the required 15-day notice was issued on August 4.

"Following the investigation, the vehicle has now been formally classified as abandoned and is due to be removed on Monday August, 24. The registered keeper has also been identified and contacted as part of the process.
"We appreciate residents’ concerns, particularly given the vehicle’s proximity to the play area."
Once it has been removed, the council will assess whether any additional street cleansing – including clearing broken glass – is required.
