£45k to expand digital book collection in Central Bedfordshire libraries
Funding of £45,000 has been allocated by Central Beds Council to expand digital book collections available in libraries across the area.
The investment, of UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) will enable the council to purchase around 800 new eBooks and eAudio titles, offering an even greater choice of high‑quality digital reading and listening material.

A council spokesperson said: "The expansion supports the council’s commitment to improving access to reading for everyone.
"By enhancing the digital library offer, we’re providing flexible and inclusive options for busy families, remote users, people with disabilities, and anyone who benefits from having round‑the‑clock access to a wider range of titles.
"This aligns with broader UKSPF‑funded programmes that help residents build skills, support lifelong learning, and increase access to resources that improve education, employability, and economic participation.
"This enhanced digital offer reinforces our ongoing commitment to modern, accessible library services.
The new titles will be added to the digital library catalogue over the coming months.
