The UK is set to see warm weather again this week, with some parts expecting wall-to-wall sunshine, bright skies, and temperatures as high as 20C.

However, Easter Monday (13 April) will bring a chilly start to the week, as conditions will be “much cooler than at the weekend, especially [in] England and Wales,” explains the Met Office.

Most areas will be fine, dry and bright, but parts of the southern UK will start off rather cloudy. It will be breezy, especially in the far south.

Monday evening will be dry and rather cloudy in many central and eastern areas, but it will be cold overnight with a widespread frost. However, in the far north west of the UK, conditions should be mild.

Temperatures begin to rise

Tuesday (14 April) will see most areas being dry and bright, with the best of the sunshine in the west.

Temperatures will recover on Tuesday and will generally be near normal, but locally it will be rather warm across eastern Scotland.

Wednesday (15 April) will be cloudy, with some drizzle in the far North of the UK, but it otherwise be dry, with sunny periods.

The forecast for Northern Ireland for Wednesday (15 April ) to Friday (17 April) says, “High pressure will bring a dry and settled few days with light winds. There will be sunny spells by day and turning warmer again but still some night frosts.”

According to the Met Office, Yorkshire will be “feeling warmer Wednesday and Thursday with long sunny spells.” Most areas will see wall-to-wall sunshine, with highs of up to 17C.

The North East of England will be similar on Wednesday, with most parts seeing bright skies and temperatures of up to 17C.

The North West of England will see “rural frosts to start on Wednesday, with the rest of the day dry and sunny. Becoming rather warm from Thursday with plenty of sunshine, but turning cloudier on Friday.”

Thursday (16 April) will see bright sunshine and highs of up to 18C in most parts of the North West.

London and South East England will be sunny in most parts on Thursday, with highs of up to 20C.

There will be more cloud and showers, some of which will be heavy, in the Southwest of the UK on Thursday and Friday, mainly dry and warmer with sunny spells elsewhere.

Long-term forecast

The Met Office UK outlook for Friday 17 April to Sunday 26 April explains, “Friday will be a dry and cloudy day for many with showers across the south and some heavy downpours in the southwest. Cooler in the east due to an onshore breeze.

“Looking further ahead it is likely that settled weather will continue for much of the country, this meaning some good spells of sunshine and dry conditions for many with the best of the drier weather around central areas of the UK.”
