Tickets on sale now for the adults only panto in Leighton Buzzard – Big Dick Whittington

House of Mystery
Get your Spandex sparkling, your belly laughs at the ready – Leighton Buzzard is playing host to its first ever adult only panto, and it’s going to be wild.

Think panto is a tired old platform that’s only for kids? Oh no it isn’t! Prepare to laugh uproariously as the delightfully daring Big Dick Whittington rolls into Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre for a four day run this winter.

Starring a host of professional actors – including the TikTok sensation and star of Drag Idol UK Traya Buns – follow Dick on his adventures as he heads for the bright lights of London to seek his fame and fortune.

He, and his cat Tommy, encounter a host of adventurous situations along the way, including his new love interest, Idle jack. Will Dick’s heart win out, or will the Queen Rat scupper his plans? And will the strictly over 16s audience find a better laugh on a bleak November night than this latest production from Northamptonshire’s House of Mystery?

House of Mystery

Producer and writer Dale, thinks not: “It’s pantomime at its finest, but for adults only. It’s naughty, silly and a great laugh for everyone. There’s humour for all ages. While we say it is for over 16s, that’s more the language and innuendo – there’s no full nudity or sex scenes! Think Jim Davidson’s Sinderella and you can’t go far wrong!”

“What we’ve tried to do is create a belly laugh show, where people can come along and forget about the real world for two and a half hours and let their hair down. The world is too serious, and this show is perfect to just come and have some fun!”

And while the show loosely follows the traditional panto plot, with a nod to some LGBTQ themes, that’s not the main part of the story.

“This is a panto for everyone … we call it an adult only panto, as it’s definitely not one for children, but people will use their own judgement and we think it’s a great laugh for anyone over 16.”

As part of a UK tour it’s on from November 27-30 (four evenings and a matinee) in Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre. It’s also the perfect show for a works Christmas night out; book an early dinner, have a few drinks in the theatre bar, then laugh out loud for festive fun with a rib-tickling flavour.
