The 24-year-old takes on Tornike Tortladze at York Hall, almost a year to the day from when he had his last bout, a points win over Dan Naylor.

Ear and wrist injuries have prevented Devine from adding to his nine wins out of 10 fights so far as he said: “I’ve been out for a year with injury, so I’m really excited to be back.

“Normally I pick up niggly injuries, but this time I haven’t so I’m very happy about that.

“The training camp has been hard, juggling work too.

“I get up at half four in the morning, go running, then get dropped off at the gym when I’ve finished work.”

On the injuries that have stunted his progress, Devine continued: “I had an ear problem one time.

“Then, when I was sparring, a punch got through and I caught it with my hand.

“My wrist snapped back, I snapped the ligament in the arm and the x-ray said I broke a bone too, so it was a double whammy.

“It’s just making sure it heals properly as I’ve done all the right things now.

“I’ve got new people on board helping me out with nutrition, strength and conditioning now as I go to Hills Physical Developments in Luton three times a week.”

Standing in Devine’s way is Tortladze, with the Georgian’s record three wins, one draw and three defeats.

Devine said: “I’ve only seen one video and he looks like a handful, but it’s nothing I can’t deal with.

“I should be able to get a win, he’s a bit ragged and comes in with his head, so I’ll have to watch out for that.

People who come forward and give it a go, I’ve stopped them, so hopefully I’ll get another stoppage.

“I’d like to get the rounds in because I’ve been out for a year and want to just keep on learning, so there’s no point knocking everyone out.

“Hopefully I’ll be back in title action after this too.”

Devine is also confident his loyal and vocal following will make the trip to York Hall as he added: “When my fans come they make the place rocking for me.

“I love York Hall, it’s the best place to box for me.

“I think there will be at least 120 there, probably more, and this week will go crazy for tickets.”
