Boss John Still revealed 26-year-old Italian trialist Pisani failed to do enough to win a contract, but hinted he may hand a deal to former Leicester City and Ipswich Town defender Maduako.

The 19-year-old, who had two loan spells at Ilkeston, cut an imposing figure in last week’s 2-1 development team victory over West Ham United at Kenilworth Road.

He said: “On the Italian lad, Pisani, no, we’re not pursuing that. The other one Jide, he’s still training with us. He’ll have a couple more days with that. We’ll have a couple more days to take a look.

“But if we take him, he’ll be one that we need to spend time developing. He won’t be coming in to push for a first team place just yet.”
