Luton Town remained three points clear at the top of the Skrill Premier after Cambridge United suffered a first home league defeat of the campaign last night, writes Mike Simmonds.

Richard Money’s side were beaten 2-1 by Grimsby Town, with former Hatter Scott Neilson scoring the winner in the second half.

The result means United still trail Luton by three points and are now level on games with Town too.

Grimsby meanwhile, climbed to fourth in the table and are 12 points adrift of Hatters, but with two games in hand.

Hatters could move six points clear of Cambridge on Saturday as John Still’s men travel to Dartford, while the U’s are in FA Trophy action at Eastleigh.
