Town striker Scott Rendell finally left Kenilworth Road last week after the club agreed to mutually terminate his contract, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 27-year-old had been out of favour under boss John Still, as he wasn’t given a squad number and has spent most of the term on loan at Woking.

On his departure, Still said: “I really feel for Scott because when I came in at the end of last season, he had some family problems with his wife and the baby.

“I know Scott as a player and I like Scott as player, but he wasn’t probably able to produce his best form at that time for a variety of family reasons.

“But as a manager, how long would that take for him to overcome that? I don’t know.

“So I had to move on and unfortunately, he got left behind, it’s just how it works.”

Still had nothing but praise for Rendell’s conduct too, as the striker will remain best known to Town fans for netting the winner at Norwich City when Hatters dumped the Premier League side out of the FA Cup last season.
