Leighton Buzzard Freemasons donate to Hospice at Home

The Freemason’s Lodge of St Barnabas no. 948 were delighted to present a cheque for £1,120.50 this week, to the Leighton Buzzard based charity Hospice at Home.

Through a group of trained volunteers, the charity, established in 1995, offers a free, confidential service to patients and families living with a terminal or life limiting illness. It provides an opportunity for the carers to have someone to talk to outside the family unit, or to have free time away from their sometimes stressful and emotional role. More details about the charity can be found on their website:

The money was raised from a summer ‘Romanian BBQ’ and a Christmas lunch for members, their families and friends. Lodge members Chris Soper (Treasurer) and Andy Cross (Charity Steward) are pictured at the cheque handover, with Hospice at Home volunteers (left to right) Jaquie Dixon, Mary King, Dawn Towse and John Canepa.

The Lodge of St Barnabas have already donated almost £6,000 to charities this year alone, and are continuing their fund-raising efforts with events such as another BBQ, a Race Night and a further Christmas event. They meet at Gables Hall on Wing Road in Leighton Buzzard and are always happy to hear from any gentlemen wishing to become a member!
