Leighton Buzzard's Greenfields to celebrate 10th anniversary with community barbecue
Leighton Buzzard's Greenfields is celebrating its 10th anniversary by inviting the community to its birthday barbecue.
On Saturday, June 27, Roman Gate residents, family and friends can visit the independent living complex on Theedway to browse a variety of stalls, admire artwork and enter competitions.

The event has been organised by the Greenfields Residents' Club, who wish to say a heartfelt thank you to the community for their friendship over the past decade.
Treasurer Judith Stallworthy, who has lived in the complex since 2017, said: "Last year we celebrated VE Day, we've celebrated the King's birthday – we love anything that can involve the whole community. We're always an integral part.
"It's a beautiful place to live. We're all in our own flats with the communal area downstairs. We invite musicians to come and play. We've had so many lovely barbecues in our garden. And we've booked the sunshine for the 27th!"
Special guest Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable MP Alex Mayer will be paying a visit on June 25 to help decorate, before the Wing Singers kick off the celebrations on the Friday evening (June 26) at 6pm.
"There's going to be photographs on display of past residents and events, and I'm going to ask Alex to help put them up," said Judith.
Meanwhile, town councillor David Bligh will be joining Saturday's festivities.
Guests are welcome to arrive from 2pm to enjoy the barbecue and browse a variety of stalls. There will be a tombola, a children's tombola, a grocery tombola, a pampering tombola, and jewellery and craft stalls, including cards by Pat Burgess.
Artwork from both Greenfields and Roman Gate residents will also be on display.
There will be bingo at 3pm (cash prize of £50), a raffle at 3.30pm, and at 3.40pm prizes will be given for ‘guess the weight of the cake’ and ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’.
Roman Gate residents and friends and family of Greenfields residents are all invited.
Judith added: "We want to give something back.”
The Greenfields Residents’ Club has been busy holding bingos and raffles to fund the event.
Judith would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped, including the residents and barbecue chefs – David, Terry and Phillip.
