Dog groomer raises cash for Eaton Bray animal rescue at paw-some fundraiser
A dog groomer deserves a round of ap-paws after raising hundreds for an animal rescue charity.
Salvator Dog Grooming hosted its first Eat Cake, Raise Money fundraiser on Sunday, March 1 to raise vital cash for Appledown Rescue and Rehoming Kennels in Eaton Bray.

And while founder of the Dunstable business Becca Thompson took the lead on events, she wasn’t barking up the wrong tree when she called for help – with other local businesses and generous people happy to help.
Guests enjoyed delicious cakes and bakes from The Cakehouse, Lisa Roberts Catering, Sophie’s Desserts at Kazmicks, as well as individual donors, while The Globe Pub kindly half of their venue free of charge for the event.
It raised a fantastic £570 for the charity, which is dedicated to rescuing, caring for and rehoming stray and unwanted dogs.
Special guests at the event were an Appledown volunteer and one of the rescue’s current resident dogs, who were on hand to share the stories of pups still looking for their fur-ever homes.
Becca said: “Supporting Appledown has been close to my heart for many years. The work they do to give dogs a safe, loving place and help them find forever homes is truly incredible.
"Seeing the community come together to support them through this event has been so rewarding. I’m thrilled that our first fundraiser was such a success, and I hope to repeat it next year.”
Funds raised will go directly towards helping Appledown continue its vital work providing shelter, medical care and rehoming services for dogs that have nowhere else to turn. As a registered charity, Appledown relies on community support and fundraising efforts like this to carry on offering these essential services.
