Leighton Buzzard kebab restaurant offering free meals on Christmas Day

A kebab restaurant in Leighton Buzzard is opening its doors on Christmas Day to offer free meals for the community.

Turkish Delight, which is based on Wing Road in the town, is repeating the festive offer of previous years, and says it is confident it will once again be well supported.

In a social media post Mehmet Durmus from the Turkish Delight team wrote: "We are proud to offer this service and are confident that many residents will visit us this year, as they have in previous years.

"We would especially be honoured to have public sector employees, police officers, ambulance personnel, firefighters, and those caring for our elderly and disabled citizens visit us."

Irfan Akkas, a partner at the restaurant told the LBO: "We started running the offer to help people that were lonely, and not able to spend the time with families.

"In previous years, we have had 60 or 70 people turn up, mainly from Leighton Buzzard and Linslade.

"People are able to just turn up on the day, but if they can call a few minutes beforehand that would be helpful.

"We are offering the same menu as normal."

The restaurant will be open from 3pm to 9pm on Christmas Day, but will not be offering its usual delivery service on this date.
