Leighton Buzzard Railway 'hopeful' track will be repaired in time for Steam Gala
Plans are on track for Leighton Buzzard's Narrow Gauge Railway line to be repaired following a crash.
A BMW convertible crashed through the hedge and fence adjacent to the Munday’s Hill extension after leaving Mile Tree Road on the evening of Sunday, September 6.

The car was severely damaged – along with the track and other infrastructure of the railway.
A spokesman for the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway said: “We are glad to hear that the driver has experienced no significant injuries from the crash, but we are dealing with a situation where our trains are unable to travel on this top section of our line until extensive remedial works have been completed.
"The line is still blocked and the matter is in the hands of the insurance company and we look forward to a rapid resolution of the problems we are experiencing.
"We sincerely hope that the track will be repaired in time for our Autumn Steam Gala."
The gala is due to take place on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25 – and had already been moved because of the fire risk imposed by the summer’s heatwave.
The railway says that plans are also in place so that their Halloween Special Event (October 31 and November 1) can still go ahead with all planned activities if repairs are not completed by then.
