With VE Day Fayre in May, Big Lunch in June and Leighton-Linslade Carnival all cancelled due to the ongoing health crisis, the popular town council-run canal festival scheduled for Tiddenfoot Waterside Park on July 25 has now joined the list.

The council's Cultural & Economic Services Committee has also decided to call off the rescheduled August 16 Big Lunch and all Music in the Park concerts in June and July.

It says the Music in the Park concerts for August and September will only take place if permitted, and following government and public health England guidelines for the hospitality and the entertainments industries.

The council added: "As it is likely there will be a requirement for social distancing measures to be in place throughout September and October, the decision was made to cancel the Business Network Event which had been rescheduled for September 9 at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club.

"Our Living History event scheduled for October 5 will now be replaced with a series of smaller demonstrations and exhibits across September and October if government guidelines allow the council to do so.

"Councillors would like to thank our sponsors, stall holders, demonstrators, and performers for their understanding during these unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing them, along with the residents of Leighton-Linslade at our events again soon."
